The "Drive Hammered, Get Nailed" campaign to catch drunken drivers in King County gets under way Wednesday and lasts through Sept. 3.
August and Labor Day weekend are among the state's deadliest periods for accidents related to driving under the influence.

As of July 1, individuals arrested on suspicion of DUI in Washington can face felony charges if they have four previous DUI arrests within a 10-year period. Convictions carry a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The DUI-emphasis patrols are sponsored by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, statewide law enforcement and the King County Traffic Safety Task Force.
